KISS

THE WORLD’S BIGGEST ROCK BANDS ON ONE STAGE

THE TOUR

SUMMER 2012

LOS ANGELES, CA (March 20, 2012) – Rock ‘n Roll doesn’t get any bigger than this! KISS and MÖTLEY CRÜE… On the same stage… On the same night. This spectacle of spectacles announced today, KISS and MÖTLEY CRÜE are uniting to launch THE TOUR of 2012. The summer’s biggest, baddest rock tour will level 40+ cities nationwide starting July 20th. The Live Nation promoted tour will go on sale beginning Friday, March 23rd at Ticketmaster.com and LiveNation.com.   Both bands will have fan club pre-sales beginning Wednesday, March 21st at 10am.

Citi® cardmembers will also have access to presale tickets beginning Wedneday, March 21st at 2pm local time through Citi’s Private Pass® Program. For complete presale details visit www.citiprivatepass.com.

With combined album sales of almost 200 million, KISS and MÖTLEY CRÜE are more than just iconic; they remain today as the dominant powerhouses of rock music tallying 30+ chart-topping hits, countless sold out tours and awards and accolades from around the world. Known for their elaborate and spectacular stage shows, each band plans to give fans the ultimate summer concert experience with the most impressive lighting and sound production ever and their signature over-the-top pyrotechnics. This is the first time KISS and MÖTLEY CRÜE will share a stage since 1982.

KISS consists of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. MÖTLEY CRÜE consists of Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee.

These veterans of the music business are still at the height of their popularity. KISS is the juggernaut of them all, with 3,000 licensed merchandise products, including the KISS golf course in Las Vegas and a new album. KISS has broken box office records set by The Beatles and Elvis. MÖTLEY CRÜE is the first rock band in history to have just completed an epic sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The band is best known for continuing to reinvent not only their live show (with mind blowing elements such as Tommy Lee’s 360 drum roller coaster) and music (brand new song due out this spring), but remain on the cutting edge via social media interaction. MÖTLEY CRÜE’s New York Times bestselling book The Dirt is currently being adapted into a major motion picture.  Last month, the band was featured in one of the highest rated Super Bowl ads of all time for the KIA Optima.

NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE RELEASE AMERICANA ON JUNE 5TH

Posted in Entertainment by sceneandheardblog on March 31, 2012

NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE RELEASE AMERICANA ON JUNE 5TH

March 20, 2012 – (Burbank, CA) – NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY HORSE will release a very special album titled AMERICANA on June 5, 2012. AMERICANA is the first album fromNeil Young & Crazy Horse in nearly nine years. Crazy Horse is: Billy Talbot, Ralph Molina, Poncho Sampedro, and Neil Young.

As you’ll see from the track-listing, AMERICANA is collection of classic, American folk songs. In their day, some of these may have been referred to as “protest songs,” “murder ballads,” or campfire-type songs passed down with universal, relatable tales for everyman.

Some of these compositions which, like “Tom Dooley” and “Oh Susannah,” were written in the 1800s, while others, like “This Land Is Your Land” (utilizing the original, widely misinterpreted “deleted verses”) and “Get A Job,” are mid-20th-century folk classics. It’s also interesting to note that “God Save The Queen,”Britain’s national anthem, also became the de facto national anthem of sorts before the establishment of The Union as we know it until we came to adopt our very own “The Star Spangled Banner,” which has been recognized for use as early as 1889 and made our official national anthem in 1931. Each of these compositions is very much part of the fabric of our American heritage; the roots of what we think of as “Americana” in cultural terms, using songs as a way of passing along information and documenting our past.

What ties these songs together is the fact that while they may represent an America that may no longer exist, the emotions and scenarios behind these songs still resonate with what’s going on in the country today with equal, if not greater impact nearly 200 years later. The lyrics reflect the same concerns and are still remarkably meaningful to a society going through economic and cultural upheaval, especially during an election year. They are just as poignant and powerful today as the day they were written.

Neil has penned brief historical details about each of the songs on AMERICANA that can be found here

AMERICANA was produced by Neil and John Hanlon along with Mark Humphreys, and engineered by John Hanlon with John Hausmann and Jeff Pinn. It was recorded at Audio Casa Blanca by John Hanlon.

The track-listing is as follows:

Oh Susannah

Clementine

Tom Dooley

Gallows Pole

Get A Job

Travel On

High Flyin’ Bird

She’ll Be Comin ‘Round The Mountain

This Land Is Your Land

Wayfarin’ Stranger

God Save The Queen

The OJays Bring Their “Love Train” to Horseshoe

Posted in Entertainment by sceneandheardblog on March 31, 2012

The OJays at Horseshoe Casino

Horseshoe Casino Southern Indiana hosted a sold out performance by The OJays on Friday evening. The class of 2005  Rock and Roll Hall of Fame members, including founders , Eddie Levert Sr. and lifelong friend Walter Williams Sr. along with Eric Nolan Grant who joined in 1995, sang and danced for ninety minutes covering songs from their fifty year history.  The energetic group was backed by a twelve piece band and tapped many of their 24 top ten hits including “Backstabbers, “I Love Music” and “For The Love of Money”.

The biggest ovation came when sixty-nine year old, Eddie Levert Sr. spoke to the audience about getting the country back on track, telling them to”Pray to God to put down our differences and save the USA”. As many in the audience  shouted in agreement, the group broke into an acapella version of Curtis Mayfield’s “People Get Ready” that flowed perfectly into “Love Train”.

There were times that age stole parts from their range of vocals, however the trio’s solid harmonies, energetic delivery  and love of performing showed throughout the night.

The music was fresh and enjoyable.  It was a tribute to the success of a legendary group who has mastered the art of entertainment.

This band doesn’t rest on their past history. It’s very evident they can still deliver a first class show.
