Intimate Fan Friendly Venue To Open April 4

(Louisville, KY – January 13, 2014) Live Nation’s new intimate music venue, Mercury Ballroom, has announced an April 4 opening date for the spectacular music hall in the heart of downtown’s historic theatre district and has released its opening line-up with tickets on sale Friday, January 17 at 10:00 a.m.

 

Texan-bred indie folk-rockers Okkervil River are the opening night headliners joining the previously announced April 25th performance by Christina Perri in support of her new album “Head Or Heart.”

 

Also scheduled through June are Corey Smith, Here Come The Mummies, Booker T. Jones, Excision, Toadies With Supersuckers And Battleme, Aaron Lewis, Rebelution With Common Kings, Blackberry Smoke, Lindsey Stirling, and the launch of the Mercury Rising Concert Series featuring local favorites, The Tunesmiths.

The new 900 guest capacity music hall revitalizes the historic Wright & Taylor Building.  It will also host special events throughout the year.

 APRIL 9 – COREY SMITH –

APRIL 11 – HERE COME THE MUMMIES –

 A 5000 year old foul smelling, well-endowed, and manly tribe, capable of infinite funkiness. Here Come the Mummies: Terrifying Funk From Beyond the Grave. Best known for their live performances in which band members perform in full mummy attire bandages. Doors open at 7pm and the music starts at 8pm.

 

APRIL 12 – BOOKER T. JONES –

Booker T. Jones stands tall in the American legacy of rhythm & blues as a GRAMMY Lifetime Achievement Award recipient. In the ’60s, his band, Booker T. & The M.G.s, was a staple of Top-40 radio with hit instrumentals. With the revival of interest in the Hammond B-3 sound, Booker T. carves out another chapter in his illustrious career. His latest CD finds Jones  at his most soulful in years. Doors open at 7pm and the music starts at 8pm.

 

APRIL 14 – EXCISION –

Excision shows are like no other- a virtual apocalypse of twisting and morphing sounds turn massive crowds into a frenzy, as virtual walls of bass are relentlessly impaled time and time again upon their fragile bodies and ears. Doors open at 7pm and the music starts at 8pm.

 

APRIL 15 – TOADIES WITH SUPERSUCKERS AND BATTLEME –

 Rubberneck , the 1994 full length release from TheToadies, is being reissued onto vinyl by Kirtland Records. The pressing will be on 180-gram vinyl and a few bonus tracks will be included. The band will also be playing the album from front-to-back on their upcoming tour. Doors open at 7pm and the music starts at 8pm.

 

APRIL 17 – AARON LEWIS –

 If you want to get to know Aaron Lewis, just listen to The Road. On his first full-length album, the Grammy Award-nominated, multi-platinum singer, songwriter, and guitarist tells one story after another. Echoing traditional country, some of those tales are hilarious and heartwarming, while others are pensive and personal. For Lewis, The Road  continues to wind and surprise like it always has. Doors open at 7pm and the music starts at 8pm.

 

APRIL 18 – REBELUTION WITH COMMON KINGS –

Rebelution has developed into a front-runner for grassroots, independent and tour driven music groups.Peace of Mind, was recently awarded the iTunes “Best Crossover Album”.The album builds upon the band’s signature style while venturing into new musical genres from the lush stringsincorporated into the gentle “Route Around” to the driving guitar and synths throughout “Lady In White”. APRIL 25 – CHRISTINA PERRI –

MAY 10 – MERCURY RISING CONCERT SERIES – THE TUNESMITHS –

 The Mercury Ballroom is excited to announce “Mercury Rising”, an all new concert series showcasing the best & most exciting bands Louisville has to offer. One of the first installments of this series features The Tunesmiths, Graffiti & The Debauchees on Saturday, May 10. Doors open at 8pm and the music starts at 9pm

 

MAY 15 – BLACKBERRY SMOKE –

You can call Blackberry Smoke’s music southern rock and you wouldn’t be wrong. Or you could call it country and you wouldn’t be wrong, either. But you would be selling both the band and its legion of fans short. With influences that run the gamut from country to bluegrass to gospel and yes, southern rock, Blackberry Smoke is more than the sum of its diverse parts. Doors open at 6:30pm and the music starts at 7:30pm.

 JUNE 10 – LINDSEY STIRLING –

YouTube sensation Lindsey Stirling is perhaps the first – and only – artist in the world to blend classical violin, modern dance, and The Legend of Zelda?! On September 19th, Lindsey released her self-titled debut album, Lindsey Stirling, coming off the heels of an incredibly successful presence on iTunes. Lindsey has already sold over 300,000 songs, several of which have hit the iTunes Top 100 as well as the top of the digital electronic charts.

Louisville, KY – Atlantic recording artist Christina Perri has announced details of her eagerly awaited new album. “HEAD OR HEART” – which features the brilliant new single, “Human” – is slated for release on March 11th. “HEAD OR HEART”will be available to pre-order at iTunes beginning December 31st.

Perri will celebrate the arrival of “HEAD OR HEART” with a highly anticipated North American headline tour. The dates get underway Friday, April 4th at Denver’s Ogden Theatre and then continue through late May, with highlights including a two night stand at New York City’s famed Irving Plaza on April 16th and 17th , a hometown show at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory April 19th

(Louisville, KY – December 9, 2013)  Mercury Ballroom is the new name of Live Nation’s House of Blues Entertainment division’s spectacular new intimate music venue scheduled for an April opening in the heart of downtown’s historic theatre district.

Featuring state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems, great site lines, and the booking strength of the world’s largest live entertainment company, Mercury Ballroom will showcase many of the music world’s biggest tour names that have performed at HOBE’s other clubs including such acts as Imagine Dragons, Third Eye Blind and one of the first names planned for Mercury Ballroom in Louisville, Christina Perri.

“Mercury Ballroom is going to be all about being true to Louisville,” said HOBE President Ron Bension.  “We’re excited to bring the best artists and shows into this great new club and to the best music fans in the country.  We’re really proud to be coming to Louisville and honored to be working with Bill Weyland and his great team at City Properties Group to bring this historic building to life.

These properties currently offer residential condominiums and apartments, a theater, and catered event spaces with grand ballrooms restored to their original stunning beauty.
