PAUL McCARTNEY GETS BACK TO CANDLESTICK PARK & DODGER STADIUM

“OUT THERE” 2014 CALIFORNIA DATES CONFIRMED:

August 10 – Los Angeles, CA – Dodger Stadium

August 14 – San Francisco, CA – Candlestick Park

Following an incredible 2013 which saw Paul McCartney’s Out There tour launch in Brazil and visit 23 cities across South America, Europe, North America and Japan, Paul has now confirmed two more very special shows on the 2014 U.S. Out There tour.

Currently tearing through Uruguay, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica, with Paul’s return to Japan and debut in Korea set for next month, the Out There 2014 world tour is now confirmed to visit the same pair of U.S. cities where The Beatles played their two very last shows:

* Putting the rumor mill to rest, Paul has confirmed that he will indeed return to San Francisco August 14 to play Farewell to Candlestick: The Final Concert. This once in a lifetime occasion is sure to be doubly bittersweet as Paul closes the same iconic venue where The Beatles played their final concert date on August 29, 1966. Of Paul’s most recent visit to San Francisco, headlining last year’s Outside Lands festival, the SF Weekly gushed “one of pop music’s original supernovas… let us bask in its incredible warmth for the best part of three hours… the question of whether or not it was a ‘good’ show almost doesn’t apply – Paul McCartney… was good in a way that no other show could be.”

* A few days earlier on August 10, Paul will play Dodger Stadium for the first time since The Beatles’ penultimate live gig on August 28, 1966. The show will be Paul’s first L.A. engagement since the 2010 two-night stand at the Hollywood Bowl of which the Los Angeles Times raved “It’s hard to think of much in the pop music world more impressive than a 67-year-old musician holding forth for nearly three hours, outdoors on a chilly March night, while delivering some three dozen songs, the least of which would be a career highlight for almost any other artist.”

The Out There tour, as always, features music from the most beloved catalog in popular music, as Paul performs songs spanning his entire career — as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle. The set list will also include material from Paul’s most recent studio album NEW, a global hit upon its release last year.

The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity; in just three hours some of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music are relived; music which for many has shaped the very soundtrack of their lives. The last decade has seen Paul and his band perform in a staggeringly impressive range of venues and locations, including outside the Coliseum in Rome, in Moscow’s Red Square, Buckingham Palace, at the White House, a free show in Mexico to over 400,000 people, and even broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul’s band of the last 10+ years-Paul “Wix” Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums) — the show never disappoints.

The tour also uses state of the art technology and production to ensure the entire audience has the best possible experience. With massive screens, lasers, fireworks, unique video content and, of course, the best songs in the world, a Paul McCartney show is so much more than just an ordinary concert. Paul’s shows attract a multi generational audience from different backgrounds all brought together by his music.

2014 got off to an incredible start for Paul as he set a personal career best by winning an incredible five GRAMMY Awards in one night. In the UK he was honored by music bible NME with a special one off award, the “Songwriter’s Songwriter Award” chosen for this unique accolade by his fellow peers.

Tickets for the newly announced dates will be on sale Monday, May 5 at 10am local time.

American Express® Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public beginning Thursday, May 1 at 10am through Sunday, May 4 at 10pm.

Mayor Jeff M. Gahan and the City of New Albany, along with 91.9 WFPK and Houndmouth, are proud to present the The Boomtown Ball & Festival!

Posted in Entertainment by sceneandheardblog on April 26, 2014

“The Boomtown Ball & Festival will serve as the kick-off for the Bicentennial Park Summer Concert Series,” stated Mayor Jeff M. Gahan. “The festival will consist of a free outdoor music stage curated with the help of Houndmouth and an open air flea market/bazaar, all contained right in our downtown.”

This event will be held on Market St. in downtown New Albany on Sunday, May 25th. The City of New Albany has enlisted the support of Flea Off Market, a unique Louisville-based outdoor bazaar that will feature tons of regional and local vendors offering records, books, antiques, vintage items, fine arts & crafts, esoterica, and more!
Gates for this free family friendly event open at 1pm.

The line-up for the outdoor stage curated by Houndmouth, music begins at 1:30pm

The River City Blues Band Hailing from Louisville.Ky The River City Blues Band plays a variety of Blues – West Coast, Delta, Chicago. Members Denny Thornbury, Jimmy Gaetano, Hank Dobson and Tom Murray play straight up BLUES, man!

The Kernal & His New Strangers Based in Jackson, TN, The Kernal & His New Strangers call the Downtown Tavern home and from that halfway point between two Tennessee music mecca’s, tour the country with their home-grown brand of Southern mystique. Tied deeply to the legacy of the wandering musician and the historic Grand Ole Opry, the Kernal, a southern gentleman with an old soul and youthful ambition, found his sound and showmanship in the greats of the classic Country music scene like Del Reeves.

Ranger members Adam Faris, Michael Homan, Yuto Kanii and Alfonso Ramos were jamming out in an abandoned candy factory on Floyd Street in Louisville, in order to let loose and nail down some new songs. Now, after a trip to Kevin Ratterman’s La La Land, the New Albany band has a new album entitled The Bard.“We kinda stumbled upon the album title while reflecting on our demos at Ratterman’s. The inspiration was found through the storytelling aspects of the album,” says Alfonso Ramos, lead singer of Ranger.

Daniel Martin Moore is a singer and songwriter (and a great many other things arguably less relevant to this particular piece of text) from Cold Spring, Kentucky. On the strength of an unsolicited demo he sent in January of 2007, Sub Pop released Stray Age in October of 2008, a quietly striking album and Daniel’s debut full-length. And, in February of 2010, Sub Pop released Dear Companion, an album written and performed by Ben Sollee and Daniel Martin Moore together, and produced by Jim James from My Morning Jacket and Monsters of Folk.

The Pass Louisville, KY’s The Pass tout a “neverending quest for a balanced perfection of synthesizer pop and dance-floor psychedelia.” The music is compulsively listenable, danceable and playable. Their momentous sound and infectious onstage energy keep the crowd moving.

Discount Guns is the brainchild of John Ford & Edward Vincent. The two grew up in Central Ill. and met in 2006 working at a farm machinery store. The men both ended up in Louisville, Kentucky and Discount Guns was born. In the summer of 2010, they started writing music together. After failed attempts of finding a drummer, the two decided to learn to play the drums and become a 2-piece, switching off on guitar and drums.

Fly Golden Eagle is currently touting their latest, psych-funk release, “Swagger”, wherever they go and are done with their follow-up, “Quartz”, to be released soon. In the past year the band has toured with Alabama Shakes, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Dr Dog, Arctic Monkeys, Clear Plastic Masks and Chrome Pony. See them outside and in the sun.

San Fermin is the work of Brooklyn composer and songwriter Ellis Ludwig-Leone. After finishing his musical studies at Yale, Ludwig-Leone wrote the album in six weeks while holed up in a studio on the mountainous border between Alberta and British Columbia. He focused on lifeʼs top-shelf issues – youth, nostalgia, anxiety, unrequited love – and tied these vast themes to different characters through vocal contributions from longtime friend Allen Tate, as well as Jess Wolfe and Holly Laessig of Lucius.

This event is produced by Louisville based buyers Production Simple, Concerts & Events and radio sponsorship is being provided by 91.9 WFPK.
