If we didn’t have enough to be thankful for this Holiday. Local bands and venues gave us another reason to be proud of our music scene.
The third installment of Louisville Palace’s “Faces in the Palace” featured ,The Ladybirds , Bodeco and The Junk Yard Dogs. The majestic theater greeted it’s largest crowd of the “Faces” series and they were not disappointed. Each band brought their A game to the event.
The LadyBirds began the night showcasing why they are clearly one of the best rockabilly bands in the business.
Bodeco playing their first performance in two years played an outstanding set and was clearly the favorite of the night. The band was on from the start, led by the amazing bass lines of Jimmy Brown.
The Junk Yard Dogs wrapped up the event with a strong set that gave the exhausted audience a second wind.
Congratulations to staff at The Louisville Place and WFPK particularly Sydney O’Brien for making this an exciting event for our local music scene.
The young band (less than a year old) has made a lot of noise this past year securing a record contract with Rough Trade and gaining national attention at the SXSW Festival while touring with Britain’s “Dry The River”,
The venue was full of friends and family and sold out hours before the show.
This band has great stage presence and full of talent. They are yet to release their first album but it didn’t stop the audience from singing along. They started the show with songs from their EP released earlier this year and played many new songs some of which the had only played once live before.
This band has the talent to be stars in the years to come and it was a homecoming that they will not forget.
Nashville’s songwriter, guitarist, and singer Andrew Combs was also on the bill and played a beautiful set highlighting his strong voice and band. Combs just released his debut album, Worried Man, which American Songwriter has called “one of the year’s finest.”
It was a special night full of energy and excitement. A perfect ending to a weekend to be thankful for!
