3/11: SXSW TMBG Interviewed by Eugene Mirman @ Long Center, 5pm

Two-time GRAMMY winning Brooklyn originals have just released an extraordinary 16th studio album Nanobots–returning with electrifying pop melodies, vivid lyrics and just enough bass clarinet. Over three decades They Might Be Giants have perfected their deliriously catchy, original sound, and Nanobots 25 startling tracks in 45 memorable minutes play to all the bands strengths. The album was created at the private studio of their long time producer Patrick Dillett (St. Vincent, David Byrne, Mary J. Blige). It’s available at all digital & physical retailers today via Idlewild Recordings, and marks the debut offering through the band’s new distributor Megaforce.
Nanobots finds the band in fine form, receiving accolades from SPIN, Alternative Press, MAGNET, Rolling Stone, WIRED, New York Magazine and more. The call and response chorus and percussive guitar line of “You’re On Fire” premiered with Stereogum and dares even the grumpiest wallflower not to dance. Download the “You’re On Fire” MP3 HERE & check out the full album streaming at Rolling Stone, AOL Spinner and MSN Music. Please post & share!
Known for recording numerous themes most notably The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, and the GRAMMY-winning Malcolm In the Middle theme, the band has 2 platinum albums, 2 gold albums and have been nominated for 3 GRAMMYs, winning two. Revered for their energized live show and love of the road, the band has kicked off a 60-date international tour and will make a special top at SXSW Interactive for an intimate one-off interview by comedian Eugene Mirman. Stay tuned for more from They Might Be Giants coming soon!

Soundgarden to Play The Louisville Palace on May 10
Soundgarden

Formed in Seattle, Washington in 1984 by singer and rhythm guitarist Chris Cornell, lead guitarist Kim Thayil, and bassist Hiro Yamamoto. Matt Cameron became the band’s full-time drummer in 1986, while bassist Ben Shepherd became a permanent replacement for Yamamoto in 1990.
Soundgarden was one of the seminal bands in the creation of grunge, a style of alternative rock that developed in Seattle, and was one of a number of grunge bands signed to the record label Sub Pop. Soundgarden was the first grunge band to sign to a major label (A&M Records, in 1988), though the band did not achieve commercial success until they popularized the genre in the early 1990s with Seattle contemporaries Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Pearl Jam.
Soundgarden achieved its biggest success with the 1994 album Superunknown, which debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and yielded the Grammy Award-winning singles “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman“. In 1997, the band broke up due to internal strife over its creative direction. After several years working on projects and other bands, Soundgarden reunited in 2010 and their sixth studio album, King Animal, was released two years later.
As of 2012, Soundgarden had sold over 10.5 million records in the United States, and an estimated 22.5 million worldwide.
