Leon Russell

Leon Russell thrilled a packed  Headliners Music Hall, Monday evening. The legendary singer/songwriter used his historical music catalogue  and mixed in a few covers to entertain the middle age audience many who drove several hours to see the show. At 70 years old Russell’s voice is still strong. Having spent many of his early years as a studio musician, he clearly understands great musicians and his backup band consisting of  Chris Simmons,guitar/ keyboard, Beau Charron, guitar, drummer Brandon Holder and long time bassist, Jackie Wessel played to perfection.

Russell was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on Monday, March 14, 2011. He has collaborate with music’s best, playing with George Harrison, Elton John, Joe Cocker and Bob Dylan. His performance at  Concert For Bangladesh, where he performed a medley of the songs “Jumpin’ Jack Flash” and “Young Blood” raised the awareness of his great talent.

He covered “Georgia on My Mind” and “Wild Horses” while playing the majority of his well know songs. The night end with an amazing stretch of “Tight Rope”, Hummingbird” “Delta Lady” and “Jumpin Jack Flash”. It was easily one of the finest performances of 2012.
